A Couple Well Held and Believed Errors Taught in the Church

There are many errors in accepted church doctrine. Here are 2 of them.

1. You can't be Holy On earth and Perfect.

Scripture says:

Matthew 5:48 (New King James Version)
48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect
.

Why would Jesus say we can be perfect if we cannot be perfect?

James 1:4 (New King James Version)

4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Perfect and complete. Is lacking something less than complete. When you are lacking nothing you are complete. I think James was saying you can be holy on earth.

James 2:17 (New King James Version)
17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

James says there is more to a Christians life than a sinners prayer and church on Sunday.

1 John 2:5-6 (New King James Version)

5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

John says that people who say they abide in Jesus should behave like Jesus did on earth and He wasn't going around sinning every day.

Revelation 22:11 (New King James Version)

11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still."

Revelation mentions that people will be holy in the last day. It is possible or it would not be in scripture. Peter says the Lord commands it of us

1 Peter 1:13-15 (New King James Version)

13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,

We are told to leave our lusts behind and to be Holy as the LORD commanded His people in the Old Testament

Titus 2:11-12 (New King James Version)

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

We should live righteously and godly and deny our ungodly lusts and live in holiness.

2. You need to do nothing to earn God's favor, if you are saved you don't need to do anything!

James 2:17 (New King James Version)

17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Having faith but not doing things for others is a dead faith.

1 John 2:9 (New King James Version)

9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.

If you are harboring unforgiveness in your heart you are in darkness.

John 14:23-24 (New King James Version)

23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.

Jesus says if you do not obey His teachings than you do not love Him. You can sing your praises to Him all you like, but if you don't obey Him you do not love Him. And Jesus went on to say if you doubt His words here, that they are not His words but those of His Father.

If you stay in un-confessed sin and do not repent you may end up here:

Matthew 7:21-23 (New King James Version)

21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

Many Christians who claim you cannot lose your salvation can not reconcile this verse. People who know you can lose yo
